About BluePoint Planning

Our name, “BluePoint,” means enabling blue-sky thinking while inspiring innovation, developing empathy, and focusing on real impact to ensure results. We specialize in complex, inclusive, multi-stakeholder planning processes to build community and organizational resilience, develop energy policy, strengthen natural systems, and activate parks and recreation. Our work spans statewide, regional, and local planning, strategy, and engagement for government entities and organizations.


BluePoint Planning was founded by Mindy Craig in 2011. We are based in Berkeley, California, and are a certified California and Oregon, small, women-owned business, federally certified Women Owned Small Business, and a certified Alameda County Small, Local Business. ​

Principal/Owner

Mindy is the owner of BluePoint Planning, founder of the RAPID Climate Accelerator, and Board Member of ReScape California. Mindy is a dedicated and passionate professional interested and experienced in finding strategic solutions to the most pressing and challenging issues we face as society. Over the last 25 years, she has built a wide portfolio of expertise in policy and strategic planning, facilitation, outreach and communications services to government organizations throughout California and the United States focused on climate, resilience and community livability. She is a frequent speaker and presenter at conferences nationally. Mindy provides technical planning capabilities with extensive community and stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Senior Associate

Lauren is a landscape architect and planner, and a visionary and strategic capacity builder and impact driver who has worked across the United States involving communities in planning and design for parks, recreation, trails and public lands for more than 20 years. She is an intuitive process designer who creates participatory experiences that engage stakeholders and community members with an inclusive approach to planning and design.

Senior Climate Lead

Nahal G. Ipakchi is the Senior Climate Team Leader at BluePoint Planning, bringing nearly 20 years of experience across the non-profit, government, and private sectors. Her expertise encompasses climate adaptation and resilience planning, watershed protection, equitable engagement, technical assistance, capacity building, and designing collaborative solutions for thriving and healthy communities. She excels at designing and facilitating community-led climate resilience initiatives and fostering partnerships for a just and resilient world. In her personal life, Nahal enjoys strolls to local parks with her husband and their two young children, Ashavan and Zarina.

Senior Project Associate

Bianca works on a range of initiatives at BluePoint including regional and state energy planning and equitable community outreach and engagement for planning efforts. Bianca co-authored the Multifamily Zero Carbon Action Plan for the CPUC to guide the development of new multifamily construction in the State, and is also working to develop an Infrastructure Strategy and Action Plan for new sustainable development in Moffett Park in Sunnyvale. She also supports outreach engagement for the City of Santa Cruz Climate Action Plan. Bianca enjoys thinking about how large-scale energy systems and policy work can promote equity, climate resilience, and emissions reductions, and is grateful to be able to work towards those changes at BluePoint.

Senior Project Associate

As a Senior Project Associate with BluePoint Planning, Hayley has worked on a range of planning projects with a focus on equitable community outreach, parks and recreation master plans, strategic planning, and adaptation and climate plans. During her time at BluePoint Planning, she has completed the City of Missoula's Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Master Plan, the City of St. Louis' Sustainability & Climate Plan, and the State of California's Climate Adaptation Strategy, among others. Previously, Hayley has worked in the Michigan Legislature, as an AmeriCorps CivicSpark fellow at the Alameda County Water District, and for a political consulting firm that advocated for public funding measures. She is passionate about using the power of local and regional governments to advance climate resilience and equity. In her free time, she enjoys exploring California's many parks, training for various endurance races, and making pottery.

Project Associate

Allisia has enjoyed using her experience in Innovation and Technology and her passion for Environmental Science in her role as a Project Associate. At BluePoint, Allisia works on a number of projects fostering community outreach and engagement while promoting climate resilience. Allisia is passionate about finding innovative solutions to climate-related problems and is grateful that BluePoint offers the space and mentorship to do so. In her free-time you can find Allisia enjoying the outdoors on a nice hike or traveling around the world embracing different cultures.

Project Associate

Nora is an experienced researcher with strong data analysis and community engagement experience. Before joining BluePoint, Nora served as an AmeriCorps CivicSpark Fellow with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and with the City of Richmond, CA, focusing on community outreach, climate resilience, and conservation. She graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies and is particularly passionate about protecting open spaces while ensuring equitable access to the outdoors. When not working, Nora enjoys exploring the Bay Area’s network of hiking and running trails and trying out new recipes.

Project Associate

Katie is a Project Associate with experience in environmental planning and sustainability initiatives. Before joining BluePoint, Katie interned at the Port of Oakland’s Environmental Planning Department, assisting with environmental compliance, and worked as a climate policy student researcher in the USC Gibson Climate Justice Lab. Katie graduated from USC in 2024 with B.A.s in Environmental Studies and NGOs & Social Change. She is passionate about supporting community resilience to climate change impacts. Outside of work, Katie enjoys hiking in the nearby redwood forests and reading.

Office Manager

Jenny is the Office Manager for BluePoint Planning, supporting the firm with logistics, administration, scheduling and overall support as well as helping with general project, meeting and workshop logistics. Jenny brings over 20 years of experience in Arts Management and Education to BluePoint. A stage performer as well, Jenny has “trod the boards” across the US in a variety of performance venues. In her free time, Jenny can be found enjoying the outdoors or just sharing a good cup of coffee with friends while comparing notes on last night’s “Final Jeopardy.”

Frisco is the office pup and chief morale booster. He spends his time checking in with the team and visitors. Open for walking meetings.
