BluePoint led a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant-funded Nature-Based Resiliency Strategy for the County of Santa Clara, addressing sea level rise, flooding, water quality, and ecological impacts resulting from climate change using nature-based solutions (NbS). In the first phase of the project, BluePoint worked with the County to establish governance and manage and facilitate a new Countywide Climate Collaborative, develop a framework for NbS resilience, and create an innovative and interactive NbS resilience tool and catalog, as well as establish a new website.
In the second phase, BluePoint scaled the effort to address countywide resilience at the watershed level and developed a GIS mapping tool to pinpoint high-value intervention areas where social vulnerability and climate hazards are greatest. Furthermore, BluePoint partnered with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to test the mapping tool with the City of Gilroy community, creating an implementation plan and template for future efforts in the county.
