Project Associate

BluePoint Planning specializes in strategic and policy planning, facilitation, communications, and outreach that promote social causes and advance the common good. With a focus on innovation, equity, and holistic thinking, we partner primarily with public-sector agencies to enable and support local communities to implement effective action. We are active in a wide variety of sectors, including clean energy, climate adaptation and mitigation, and parks and recreation. BluePoint is a small firm that leverages partnerships to conduct meaningful work.

Job Description

We seek a Project Associate who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to our work. You will work directly with the firm principal on a wide range of projects, from community engagement, strategic planning, research and analysis, parks planning, and climate and resilience planning for government agencies. As a small firm, you will be expected to be flexible and agile, and willing to be able to do a number of tasks, effectively managing your time. You will be immersed in a multidisciplinary environment, coordinating and collaborating with a broader group of outreach specialists, policy consultants, urban planners, environmental designers, and others outside the company. Excellent writing, communications, and digital savvy are critical skills to be successful.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Associate's job responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and editing content for community engagement plans, project reports, etc.

  • Supporting the development and assisting in implementing outreach and communication plans for diverse communities

  • Assisting with a range of activities to support plan development

  • Research and analytical tasks

  • Client engagement, project management, and administration skills

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. You have the ability to work collaboratively and independently—with oversight. You have an interest in working with local governments and never being bored. You enjoy ideation and brainstorming, and exploring solutions from a new perspective.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years of related work experience, depending on educational background

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with capabilities in writing, communications, outreach, environmental and public policy

  • Excellent writing skills 

  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications suite, and ideally experience in InDesign

  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable

  • Capabilities in ArcGIS, GHG Inventories, Wix, Excel, or Social Media are a plus.

The position is full-time, in-person, with the ability to work from home a couple of days a week. We are located in Berkeley, CA, within walking distance of Ashby BART.
